Editing a film about teen pregnancyCurrently in production, “Tengo La Voz – I Have The Voice,” hosted by Claudia Villa, takes a behind-the-scenes look at the workshops, summer camps, and other exciting opportunities made possible by the Tengo La Voz grant.

With enthusiastic mentors to show them the way, participating students learned to share their voice with the entire community.

Community Media Center's TV Control RoomAs Tengo La Voz mentors themselves, the KRCB-TV and KRCB-FM production team came up with many different workshops, which were presented in partnership with the Community Media Center of Santa Rosa.

The teens quickly developed a professional set of skills, collaborating to make television magic.

Voice of Youth

In a small house at Santa Rosa’s Doyle Park, nine very different students came together to learn the camera and to boldly venture beyond the TV studio.

Practicing the camera at Railroad Square in Santa RosaTogether, they shared creative ideas, told each other stories, and learned new skills. The budding TV producers practiced whenever— and wherever— they could.

The documentary also explores the finished work created by Tengo La Voz participants, including:

  • A music video
  • A performance of poetry, rap, and spoken word
  • Several short stop-motion animations
  • And more creative short films, TV shows, and stories!
