The Political Remaking of Richmond – February 7, 2017

From company town to progressive beacon, Richmond has undergone a dramatic political rebirth in the 21st century.

In the past 5 years, one bay area city has placed a soda tax measure before its voters, passed a strong rent control measure, and rejected a big-money city council campaign from its biggest employer. And no, it wasn’t Berkeley.

Steve Early will talk about Richmond’s Rent Control law, in a Santa Rosa forum tonight at the Glaser Center in Santa Rosa. He’ll also appear at Book Passage in Corte Madera tomorrow night.
