Study Seeks Pregnant Women and New Moms to Measure Possible Effects of the October Fires – July 13, 2018

Since October, we’ve spent a lot of time worrying about the effect of smoke and fire on our local wine grapes. But have you considered that the October fires may have affected pregnant women and babies?

Were you pregnant at the time of the fires, or are you currently pregnant with a due date no later than October 31, 2018? If the answer to either question is yes, then a new study may be looking for you. KRCB news director Steve Mencher talked with Rebecca Schmidt of UC Davis about the study.

Rebecca J. Schmidt, M.S., Ph.D., is Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences, University of California – Davis, School of Medicine.
