For Speier, the personal has always been political, starting before she nearly lost her life on Leo Ryan’s ill-fated mission to Jonestown, Guyana 40 years ago. She spoke with KRCB News Director Steve Mencher and their discussion ranged from the government shutdown to evolving ideas of feminism.
