Dungeness Crab Season Ends Early on the California Coast to Protect Whales – April 4, 2019

If you’re hoping to feast on local Dungeness Crab before the season is over, you may have less time than you think.

Crab season will be ending early this year in order to protect endangered whales from getting tangled in fishing gear. This decision comes after The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) was sued by the Center for Biological Diversity in 2017 for failing to protect endangered species.  KRCB’s Adia White tells us what this change means for both fishermen and the environment.
