A local activist group is suing Sonoma County over the investigation records in the Andy Lopez case.
Under a state that took effect at the beginning of this year, law enforcement agencies are now required to release documents connected to misconduct investigations. Here in Sonoma County, the Sheriff’s Department has made public documents related to five investigations including the shooting death of 13-year Andy Lopez by then Sheriff’s Deputy Erick Gelhaus.
