2017 Summer Art Camp
Healdsburg Center for the Arts
June 12th – July 28th, 2018

Summer Art Camp begins Monday June 12 and runs through July 28. This year’s camp will take place at West Side School, Felta School House, and Healdsburg Community Center and there are sessions for ages from 4 to 17 years!

Registration fees vary by session.
HCA offers a limited number of scholarships.
Donations to the Scholarship Fund are welcome!

Application can be made by sending an email to info@healdsburgcenterforthearts.org, with your child’s name, age, title of the session and a statement of need.

WEEK ONE: June 12th – 16th, 2018
Mixed Media: Art on Fabrics and Paper
Silk and cotton fabrics will be painted with dyes and acrylic paints. Framed silk art and soft animal sculptures will be created by all. Additionally, we will explore using dyes and acrylics on paper and stiff boards. Also, while working on drawing skills, other art media will be used, like pencil, pens and colored pencils.

Eco Art – Morning
In this class, students will focus on the garden and nature while creating amazing eco-art projects. Each child will be encouraged to explore through discovery, to complete an idea with confidence and enjoy the inspiration that is fostered through experimentation. Each half-day class will include gardening, nature discoveries, music, singing and creating in clay, recycled papermaking, building a loom, weaving with natural and found objects, drawing and painting and building a handmade journal of our weeks Eco-art and nature experiences!

A Rainbow of Mixed Media
Every day of camp we will create a new piece of art using many different media: dyes on silk and cotton fabrics, acrylics on canvas board, sumi-e brush work, watercolors, oil pastels and colored pencils on paper, also metal tooling.

Time: 1:00 – 4:00

Printmaking
This hands-on class will introduce basic techniques and tools, encouraging students to develop individual projects in mediums including monotype, woodcut, silkscreen and etching. We will carve, incise, transfer images and learn the secrets of ink on paper. Students will be encouraged to develop individual projects layering plates and creating textural images built from a variety of materials.

Time: 9:30 – 3:00 (1/2 hour allowed for student-provided lunch)
