Coastal Cleanup Day 2018 – August 23, 2018

Coastal Cleanup Day 2018
Saturday, September 15th, 2018 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Coastal Cleanup Day is the world’s largest volunteer day to protect our environment. Heal the Bay organizes efforts in L.A. County and invites you to take part on Saturday, September 15, 2018.

In coordination with a statewide and global movement, together we’ll make a big dent in removing trash and debris from the environment. During Coastal Cleanup Day 2017, volunteers removed 800,000 pounds of trash and recyclables from California’s coast and inland waterways in only three hours. There’s power in numbers.

What to Expect:
All the supplies you need will be waiting for you at the site: trash and recycling bags, gloves, data cards, pencils, and waivers, to start. Please help us reduce waste generated at each Cleanup by Bringing Your Own reusable cleanup supplies, like a bucket or bag and work gloves, from home. Learn more about our BYO campaign.

Clean up every piece of human-created trash you can find, no matter how small! Scour the water line or areas near sea walls for hidden stashes of litter. Please leave all naturally occurring material (seaweed, driftwood, rocks, feathers, and shells) in place – it provides a valuable food source and habitat for a multitude of coastal critters.

What to Wear:
• Closed-toed shoes
• Sunscreen
• A hat
• An extra layer, like a sweater or jacket in case it is cold. Be prepared to be outside in potentially changing weather for at least half a day.
