“Rule of Thumb” – honor victims of domestic violence by using purple polish on your thumbs – The ‘rule of thumb’ has been said to derive from the belief that English law allowed a man to beat his wife with a stick so long as it is was no thicker than his thumb.
“National Wear Purple Day” – Thursday, October 25th – why purple? Survivors of domestic violence are no less heroic than the brave soldiers who endured injury on the battlefield, in keeping with the Purple Heart, purple was determined to be the color of the domestic violence awareness campaign.
