In this gripping new adaptation by Wendy Kesselman, recently discovered writings from Anne Frank’s diary are interwoven with the original play to create a contemporary, impassioned story of the lives of people persecuted under Nazi rule. KRCB FM Spring Fundraiser 2017 – March 30, 2017

KRCB FM Spring Fundraiser 2017
KRCB FM Radio 91
April 1st – 8th, 2017

Support KRCB FM Radio 91 during our Spring Fundraiser beginning Saturday, April 1st and continuing through Saturday, April 8th.

You may have heard the news from Washington D.C. that funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) is in danger of being completely eliminated.

The CPB is a nonprofit corporation created by the federal government to distribute federal funding to public radio and television stations. The average station gets about 10% of its funding from the CPB. While this funding is essential funding for all stations, it’s only a small part of what’s needed.

It’s listeners like you who give every year that are still the most significant source of financial support for KRCB FM Radio 91.

We hope you will support KRCB FM during our Spring Fundraiser!

This year, Doug Jayne has produced another fantastic compilation album of local Sonoma County artists. Included are songs from Kate Wolf, Doug Blumer and the Bohemian Highway, Teresa Tudury, Buzzy Martin, Dirty Cello, Tone Bent, and more – 20 songs in all! Support KRCB FM with your donation of $40, or more, and receive this exclusive CD!

We also have other great CD’s, along with KRCB FM logo t-shirts, mugs, and a fancy new Bluetooth speaker to offer you!

Habitat – March 29, 2017

“Habitat”
Alchemia Gallery and Studios
April 1st – 29th, 2017

The Alchemia Gallery and Studios 2017 season continues with “Habitat,” a collaboration between the Alchemia visual arts studio and guest installation artist Emile Rosewater.

In “Habitat,” the main gallery is transformed into a lush alternative dimension, inhabited by other worldly paper insects and enchanted forest beings. In addition to works for sale, the Gallery store will continue to have original textiles, ceramic sculpture, fine art prints and cards.

Join Alchemia for the opening reception of “Habitat,” Saturday, April 1st from 4-7 pm. On Saturday, April 29th from 7-9 pm, the Jungle will serve as an unforgettable setting for the old country music, song-poem pop stylings of Big Kitty Clark Williams (no cover).

Alchemia is a non-profit organization that promotes the creative expression of artists with disabilities via the visual, performing and creative arts as a vehicle for personal growth and accomplishment. Alchemia serves over 100 artists throughout Sonoma and Marin Counties.

Cloverdale Fiddle Festival – March 28, 2017

41st Cloverdale Fiddle Festival
Cloverdale Citrus Fair
Saturday, April 1, 2017

Greetings Fiddlers!
The Cloverdale Fiddle Festival is back, after a one-year hiatus, on April 1, 2017. The festival is a presentation of California State Old Time Fiddle Association District 10, The Cloverdale Citrus Fair and the Sonoma County Folk Society. We also get a big assist from Lagunitas Brewery.

Please note that due to time constraints and lack of participation the mandolin and guitar divisions have been eliminated. You can still expect some fine performances by old time and bluegrass bands on the California Bluegrass Association sponsored “Jamming” stage. Most of the talented performers who had been scheduled to play last year, have agreed to play in 2017 and we are happy that they did. Check the Entertainment page on the web site for the schedule.

RV and tent camping are available on a first come first serve basis. Electricity and showers are available and campers are encouraged to stay Friday and Saturday night to enjoy the opportunity to jam with friends.

Fiddlers are encouraged to pre-register and avoid the lines that involved in same day registration. Rules are posted under contestant/rules. Remember Cloverdale is an independent fiddle contest not subject to the rules of the California State Old Time Fiddle Association. However it does make a nice warm-up before heading up to Weiser Idaho for the National contest.

We here in Cloverdale hope you will continue to support us and participate in this fine fiddle festival as we continue to carry the spirit of old time fiddling into the future.

The Odd Couple – March 27, 2017

The Odd Couple
Cinnabar Theater
March 31st – April 23rd, 2017

If the mess in his apartment is any indication, it’s no wonder that Oscar Madison’s wife has left him. Enter fastidious, depressed and none too tense Felix Unger, seemingly suicidal because his wife has kicked him out. But as the action unfolds, Oscar becomes the one with murder on his mind when the clean-freak and the slob ultimately decide to room together. The Odd Couple is born, and the results are non-stop hilarity in Neil Simon’s Tony-winning classic comedy.

“Collecting Evolution” Book Launch – March 24, 2017

“Collecting Evolution,” Book Launch & Talk
Hosted by Matthew James
Museums of Sonoma County
Thursday, March 30th, 2017 @ 5:30pm

Join author Matthew James for a public reading and launch of the Oxford University Press book, “Collecting Evolution: The Galápagos Expedition that Vindicated Darwin.”

A described on Amazon.com:
In 1905, eight sailor-scientists from the California Academy of Sciences set out on an 89-foot schooner from San Francisco for a scientific collection expedition in the Galapagos Islands. By the time they finished in 1906, they had completed one of the most important expeditions in the history of both evolutionary and conservation science. They brought back over 78,000 specimens, validating the ideas of Charles Darwin and laid the groundwork for foundational evolution texts like Darwin’s Finches. Despite its significance, almost nothing has been written on this voyage, lost amongst discussion of Darwin’s trip on HMS Beagle. In Collecting Evolution, author Matthew James finally tells the story of the 1905-06 Galapagos expedition. James follows these eight young men aboard the schooner Academy to the Galapagos and back, and reveals the story before, during, and after their groundbreaking success.

Marc Katano Studio Tour – March 23, 2017

Marc Katano Studio Tour
Sonoma, California
Saturday, March 25th, 2017 @ 1:30pm

Join us for a studio tour with Marc Katano as he personally shows us his paintings and talks about his artistic process and inspiration. Katano’s paintings are about mark making and may remind the viewer of the visual language of Japanese kanji, based on Chinese characters. Katano expands his meditative practice of painting by scaling his work beyond the human body.

The organic nature of the some of these gestural paintings is accentuated by the use of handmade paper. The presence of soft rag is relegated to the outermost edges exposing the paper pulp, but the predominate surface area is dense and textured. Though purely an abstract configuration, the handmade paper delivers a coarse and mountainous landscape where the ink and paint pool and seep in wide crevasses.

Marc Katano was born in Tokyo. In 2010, Katano and his wife, the photographer Nicole Katano, moved their home from Los Angeles to Sonoma. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts with Distinction from California College of the Arts in Oakland, California in 1975. He has had 44 solo exhibitions in museums and galleries throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. His work has been exhibited at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art, the Achenbach Foundation at the Legion of Honor, San Francisco, the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, and the Honolulu Museum of Art at First Hawaiian Center

Visiting Mr. Green – March 20, 2017

Visiting Mr. Green
6th Street Playhouse
March 17th – April 2nd, 2017

Mr. Green, an elderly, retired dry cleaner, wanders into New York traffic and is almost hit by a car driven by Ross Gardiner, a 29-year-old corporate executive. The young man is given a community service of helping the recent widower once a week for six months. What starts as a comedy about two men who do not want to be in the same room together becomes a gripping and moving drama as they get to know each other, come to care about each other, and open old wounds they’ve been hiding and nursing for years.
