Washington Women’s March in Sonoma County!
Organized by:
Sonoma County Stands Together for Women
Saturday, January 21st, 2017 at 12:00pm

Americans will unite in towns, cities and schools to march in solidarity with communities most affected by the hate, intolerance and acts of violence being perpetrated throughout our nation. Together, we will send a message to our leaders, and the world, that the United States of America stands for values of human decency, equal rights and freedom from discrimination. This event is meant to showcase the strength and wisdom that our country has to offer when we embrace our neighbors and our differences and come together to promote the common good. Spearheaded by local organizers, the march will bring together people across the region, particularly women of all backgrounds, races, religions, ages and abilities, as well as communities of immigrants, people of color, and people who identify as LGBTQIA. There are over 100 communities globally marching at the same time.

This is for OUR community and it will be a peaceful march to show that we will not accept intolerance or injustice. All are encouraged to bring family, friends, and neighbors for an epic day. We are quite excited that so many are interested in joining this historic moment, a day of equality and acceptance. THANKS TO YOU!!

Our distinguished speakers include: Lynn Woolsey, former 6th District Democratic U.S. Representative for 20 years, Jared Huffman, 2nd District Democratic U. S. Representative since 2013, Julie Combs, Santa Rosa City Council Member, Ann Gray Byrd, President of the Santa Rosa/Sonoma County NAACP, Alicia Sanchez, longtime Latino activist, lawyer, labor organizer, and board member of KBBF, Annie Dobbs-Kramer, community activist with North Bay Organizaing Project and Enrique Yarce, sociology student at SRJC, immigrant rights organizer, and North Bay Organizing Assistant. Stage Kiss
January 13th – February 5th, 2017

A North Bay Premiere!
Art imitates Life. Life imitates Art. When two actors with an amorous history are thrown together as romantic leads in a forgotten 1930s melodrama, they quickly lose touch with reality as the story onstage follows them offstage. STAGE KISS captures Sarah Ruhl’s singular voice. It is a charming farce about what happens when lovers share a stage kiss—or when actors share a real one.

Brubeck Brothers Quartet – January 17, 2017

Brubeck Brothers Quartet
The Glaser Center
Saturday, January 21st, 2017 @ 7:30pm

The Brubeck Brothers Quartet is an exciting jazz group featuring two members of one of America’s most accomplished musical families, Daniel Brubeck (drums,) and Chris Brubeck (bass & trombone.) Guitarist Mike DeMicco, and pianist Chuck Lamb, complete this dynamic quartet.

The Quartet was chosen to kick off the New Year with an hour long, coast-to-coast live broadcast on Toast of the Nation on National Public Radio. The Quartets most recent CD, Life Times, is the group’s tribute to father Dave Brubeck and features many of Dave’s tunes, updated with the BBQ’s unique creative spin. Life Times was in the top 10 of all jazz CDs receiving the most radio airplay in 2012. All About Jazz wrote about their Koch release, Classified, Once again the BBQ attains that rarefied level where music is both relaxed and expressive, and their joy in its creation is contagious. Theres really nothing out there that comes close to their unique brand of inventiveness.

With Chris Brubecks compositions as a vehicle, the BBQ has joined with chamber groups to collaborate with musicians from the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Russian National Symphony Orchestra.
Although the Quartets style is rooted in straight-ahead jazz, their concerts reveal an inherent ability to explore and play odd time signatures while naturally integrating the influences of funk, blues and world music. The groups creativity, technique and improvisation can be heard in their uncompromising music, which reflects their dedication to melody, rhythm, culture and the spontaneous spirit of jazz.

The Miró Quartet – January 12, 2017

The Miró Quartet
Occidental Center for the Arts
Friday, January 20th, 2017 @ 7:30pm

Back by popular demand, this incredible quartet will only appear in our small hall one night. Last year, playing to critical acclaim at the larger Shroeder Hall, this is your chance to hear the quartet on a more intimate level, for a breathtaking, live performance that can’t be duplicated.

Formed in 1995, the Miró Quartet is consistently praised for their deeply musical interpretations, exciting performances, & thoughtful programming. Each season, the they perform throughout the world on the most important chamber music series & on the most prestigious concert stages, garnering accolades from critics & audiences alike. Based in Austin, TX, the Miró Quartet took its name from the Spanish artist, Joan Miró, whose surrealist works — with subject matter drawn from the realm of memory and imaginative fantasy — are some of the most original of the 20th century.

Concert highlights of recent seasons include a highly anticipated and sold out return to Carnegie Hall to perform Beethoven’s complete Opus 59 Quartets; collaborations with award-winning actor Stephen Dillane as part of Lincoln Center’s White Lights Festival; Miró Quartet took first prizes at several national and international competitions including the Banff International String Quartet Competition and the Naumburg Chamber Music Competition.
