Book Launch: Julianne Skai Arbor “TreeGirl – Intimate Encounters with Wild Nature”

In her new book, TreeGirl: Intimate Encounters with Wild Nature, photographer, arborist and forest ecotherapist Julianne Skai Arbor brings us into intimate contact with 50 species of trees from 13 countries over four continents, weaving stunning nude photography, natural history, ethnobotany, conservation, and the ecopsychology of the human-tree relationship. Photo exhibit 12 Noon -5 pm. Book readings/slide show 2 pm. Free admission/all donations happily accepted. Delectable, ethnobotanical tree foods, live music by Richard Heinberg and opening talk by Brock Dolman.
TreeGirl, aka Julianne Skai Arbor, is the author of TreeGirl: Intimate Encounters with Wild Nature. She has been on the forefront of the fields of ecotherapy, nature connection and environmental art since 1995. She travels around the world to learn from the trees first hand, and with a remote control and a tripod, photographs herself in intimate connection with the forest. To date, she has intertwined with over 70 species of trees in 13 countries.
Julianne is certified as an arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture, as a California naturalist with the University of California, and as a permaculture teacher. She has taught college-level interdisciplinary conservation education for over 10 years, including pioneering the very first academic program in Environmental Arts at the former New College of California in Santa Rosa. She holds graduate degrees in experiential Environmental Education and Arts and Consciousness Studies.
With her passion for trees she creates an experiential bridge for people to connect with wild nature through presentations, workshops and trainings in forest-ecotherapy, as well as immersive nature retreats for women. When not on her quest to meet new trees, she is at home amidst the native oak and coast redwood trees in Sebastopol, California.
Our event will feature a photo exhibit, book reading, slide show, delectable ethnobotanical refreshments, live music by Richard Heinberg and the Gaia String Trio, and opening talk by Brock Dolman.
