The Mahabharata – February 12, 2019

The Mahabharata
The dhyana Center
Friday, February 15, 2019 @ 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm

The Mahabharata is the world’s longest and greatest epic. It is a repository for all Indian tales and knowledge. It is said that anything that can be found in the world is contained in the Mahabharata and what is not contained in that epic can be found nowhere. It is essentially the story of how we got to the world we now inhabit, a tale of the corruption, strife, the waning virtues of the third age (Dwapara yuga) and how we fell into the present age (Kali yuga), from which we are hopefully at last awakening.

Resurrecting a Tradition
“In the manner of an ancient Greek rhapsode, a medieval troubadour or a modern African griot, Hari Meyers dramatically tells the timeless tale.” – R. Johnson, author of “He”, “She”, “We”, etc.

Hari comments, “I believe that the live transmission of stories, theater pieces, wisdom of all sorts contains a vibrant quality of Soul which is absent in the same material relayed via media. In a live performance, storyteller and audience merge as one deeply receptive entity.”

Performer Bios:
Hari Meyers (M.A., MFCC) has told mythological stories for almost thirty years — in men’s groups, at conferences, in mixed gender circles, in classrooms from elementary schools to universities and on a cruise ship that circumscribed the globe.

Kim Atkinson is a percussionist, rhythm education/evangelist, and driving force behind PulseWave Percussion.

Gordon Pugh is an improvisational actor and musician. He performs regularly with Flying Leap Improv and has accompanied Hari’s story telling for many years.
