“Cultivating Compassion and the Hospice Experience”

Dr. Andy Wallace will discuss recent research on the science and health benefits of compassion. This research suggests that our innate capacity for compassion is an inexhaustible inner reservoir of energy, resilience, and wisdom that can infuse our lives with meaning. Dr. Wallace will explain the benefits of adopting a compassionate point of view for working skillfully with grief and loss.

Dr. Wallace is a professor and chair of the philosophy department at Sonoma State University. He specializes in the areas of compassion, human development, and moral philosophy.

Dr. Wallace is a student and teacher of mindfulness meditation and has been a hospice volunteer for three years.
