Day of the Child – April 12, 2017

Day of the Child • Día Del Niño
12 locations throughout Sonoma County
Saturday, April 29, 2017 @ 11:00am

On April 29, 2017, the Sonoma Environmental Education Collaborative will be hosting and celebrating Día Del Niño “Children’s Day”. Many countries around the world celebrate children through an annual holiday. In Mexico, Day of the Child takes place each year in April, and it’s a big deal! Many parents buy their children a gift, and schools hold big celebrations complete with games, music, performances, piñatas, and outings. Parks, restaurants, and sporting facilities hold special celebrations as well.

In celebration of our community’s children environmental education sites in Sonoma County will host a wide variety of FREE activities from 11am to 3pm. Each site will provide different opportunities for children and adults to engage with the outdoors, highlighting the work that the SEEC organizations do throughout Sonoma County. Activities will include nature crafts, visits with animals, bug catching, family nature walks, bird watching and so much more!

End the day with a concert by the amazing Zun Zun at the Roseland Village Neighborhood Center from 4pm to 5:30pm.

As we recognize the biodiversity of Sonoma County our event will seek to focus our outreach on cultural diversity, Latino outreach, families, and students of all ages. Hablamos Español.

SonoMusette – April 4, 2017

SonoMusette
Cinnabar Theater
Sunday, April 9th, 2017 @ 7:30pm

SonoMusette recaptures the moody, melancholic sound and spirit of mid twentieth-century Paris. French chanteuse, musette accordion, gypsy-jazz guitar, upright bass, and drum kit combine to revive the enchanting songs of that era. This music has retained its power to charm and transport listeners, and SonoMusette taps that nostalgia with artistry in both vocals and instrumentation. Inspired by the great performers of that era, such as Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel, and Django Reinhardt, along with contemporary artists such as Zaz, SonoMusette brings bal-musette to the “moderne” era.
