We couldn’t agree more, so join us in celebrating the music of the man many call the greatest pop vocalist of the 20th Century. Songs include All of Me, Fly Me to the Moon, I Get a Kick Out of You, I Only Have Eyes for You, I’ll Be Seeing You, It Was a Very Good Year, and The Lady is a Tramp, to name a few.

Peppino D’Agostino – December 13, 2017

Peppino D’Agostino
Occidental Center for the Arts
Saturday, December 16th, 2017 @ 8:00 pm

Occidental Center for the Arts is pleased to present once again the internationally renowned acoustic guitarist and composer Peppino D’Agostino! A self taught musician who emigrated from Italy in 1984 to pursue his dream; Peppino has helped redefine the boundaries of the acoustic guitar. His keen melodic sense, remarkable technique, open tunings and percussive effects are the basis of his unique and original compositional style which has been inspiring musicians and audiences alike for decades. Add to that his warm, playful personality, emotional intensity, and broad musical tastes covering classical, folk, Irish, Italian, Brazilian, flamenco and jazz traditions and you have the recipe for his dynamic “minestrone music”. His live performances combine beautifully complex up -tempo instrumentals and a warm and engaging personality that is addictive. http://peppinodagostino.com/

As a six-string guitarist, composer, and arranger steeped in classical discipline, Peppino has had an amazing recording and performing career that has spanned three decades and garnered critical acclaim and awards the world over (voted #1 Best Acoustic Guitarist by Guitar Player Magazine). He has released eight solo albums and 17 recordings. In 2016 D’Agostino had his first sold out tour of China, and composed a soundtrack for the Monterey Bay Aquarium. He has performed in over thirty countries and at countless international festivals and important venues. Also a master teacher, he has published three instructional DVDs (his newest interactive video software Poetica Musica is available on his web site), composed a movie soundtrack, helped design his own signature Seagull guitar, and collaborated with some of the best musicians in the world -Tommy Emmanuel and Leo Kottke among others. D’Agostino co-founded The Pacific Guitar Ensemble with David Tannebaum in 2010, one of his best-known musical collaborations.

December 8th – 23nd, 2017

A comedy by David Sedaris
Directed by Argo Thompson

David Yen is back as Crumpet the Elf for his tenth annual and final production of best-selling author David Sedaris’ sardonic comedy. This wry tale is based on the outlandish, and true, chronicles of Sedaris’ brief stint as an elf in Macy’s SantaLand. His hysterical, behind-the-scenes anecdotes are a holiday treat for adults, mercilessly cutting through the sticky-sweetness of Christmas to illuminate the insanity of the holidays and the resilience of the human spirit.

Mrs. Bob Cratchit’s Wild Christmas Binge – December 7, 2017

Mrs. Bob Cratchit’s Wild Christmas Binge
6th Street Playhouse
December 8th – 23rd, 2017

In this new version of A Christmas Carol, Scrooge’s tale of redemption and transformation is turned completely on its head. Mrs. Bob Cratchit, a previously minor character in the famous Dickens tale, takes center stage this year! No longer loving and long suffering, Mrs. Bob is in a rage: She’s sick of the goody-goody crippled Tiny Tim, she hates her twenty other children, and she wants to get drunk and jump off London Bridge! To make matters worse, the Ghost of Christmas Past’s magic is malfunctioning, and not only do she and Scrooge keep ending up in the present at the Cratchit’s pathetic dwelling on Christmas Eve, but somehow the plots of Oliver Twist, The Gift of the Magi, and It’s a Wonderful Life all get caught up in the snow flurry of Holiday hilarity.

Kinsey Sicks – December 1, 2017

Kinsey Sicks: Things You Shouldn’t Say
Congregation Ner Shalom
Sunday, December 3rd, 2017 @ 7:30 pm

Named one of the top ten shows at the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and profiled in the October 16, 2017 New Yorker Magazine.

This is the remarkable true story of four friends from San Francisco who had a life-changing epiphany at a Bette Midler concert that led to them to form The Kinsey Sicks in an effort to find joy during the darkest days of the AIDS crisis. Now that the era of Trumpism is upon us, they’re sharing their hilarious, inspiring and at times heartbreaking tale, showing that hatred and deceit can be fought with humor and heart.

Critics have described the show as “powerful,” “provocative,” “delicious,” “subversive,” “hilarious,” “stirring,” “exquisite,” “electric,” “outrageous,” “heartbreaking,” “brave,” “mesmerizing,” “flawless,” “superb,” “incredibly moving,” ”inventively diabolical,” “riotously funny,” “vitally significant,” and “an absolute must watch.” (For more fabulous reviews, go here.)

So come join America’s Favorite Dragapella® Beautyshop Quartet as they lead us all in resisting these new dark times with laughter, integrity, and heroically high hair in an unforgettable new musical exploring Trumpism, racism, AIDS, extreme macramé, oblong vegetables and, of course, Bette Midler.

(And of course, telling some of Reb Irwin’s previously best kept secrets.)

Note: This show is overflowing with adult content. Discretion advised, in the absence of any at all from the Kinsey Sicks.
