Youngest Fire Victim Remembered for his Passion and Friendships – Nov 10, 2017

The youngest victim of the North Bay wildfires was just 14.

Kai Shepherd was the youngest person to die in the North Bay wildfires. He and his sister and parents fled their home in Redwood Valley as flames overtook the neighborhood. As part of our continuing partnership on fire coverage, KQED’s April Dembosky went to Kai’s school to see how friends remember him.

Kai’s 17-year-old sister, Kressa, died October 29. Their parents Jon and Sara Shepherd continue to recover. Find more information at KRCB.org/News.
