Dredging Planned for Bodega Bay Channel – May 5, 2017

It’s been 17 years since the shallow channel into Bodega Bay was last dredged. So it’s time to do it again, and plans for a project this fall are moving ahead.

Plans are moving forward to scoop out the silt and sediment that is beginning to impede boat traffic in and out of Bodega Bay. The $4.1 million project is on track to be done later this year.

Remote Old-Growth Forest Gains Protection – May 3, 2017

A rare, untouched forest of old growth coast redwoods is now under the protection of Sonoma County’s Open Space District.

A forest of massive coast redwoods and the diverse wildlife they shelter are getting new and permanent protection, funded by distant urban residents who will never see the lands. Bruce Robinson has more.

Bald Eagles Continue to Thrive in North Bay – May 2, 2017

A pair of bald eagles have been calling Lake Sonoma home for over 15 years.

The once endangered bald eagle is now thriving across North America, including in the North Bay…where several have been spotted this breeding season. KRCB’s Tiffany Camhi reports.

County Libraries Resume Monday Hours – May 1, 2017

With the new month comes a long-awaited change in the Sonoma County Library system.

Sonoma County voters gave strong support last November to a sales tax increase to boost funding for local libraries. As of today, the first benefits from Measure Y will take effect.
